Equip is an ability that first appeared in Mirrodin and allows the player to attach certain artifacts to a creature. You can only "equip" a creature as a sorcery (meaning only during your main phase) and when the equipped creature leaves play, the equipped card stays in play. Each Equipment has an equip cost that can either be paid by mana, life, or even sacrificing other permanents.
